Indonesia: Hazardous Waste Water Pond Cleaning

The Challenge

The client had a waste water treatment effluent pond that required a clean-up after 20 years of being in operation. The high level of water content in the effluent sludge would have meant an exteremely costly  exercise for a thermal treatment process for the sludge.

Our Approach

We separate the task into clearly defined stages:

• Sludge pond cleaning
• Pre-treatment /filtering
• Dewatering of sludge
• Packaging
• Transportation

Solutions

Geocycle deployed a filter press to dewater the waste, reducing the moisture content to a level acceptable for co-processing.

Further improvement and optimization the dewatering process reduced the water content by more than 40 percent.
