Geocycle Colorado Springs helps recycle more than 3 million tires annually

Geocycle Colorado Springs collects scrap tires from roughly 400 stores across the state of Colorado and recycles over 3 million tires annually. The scrap tires collected are co-processed at the Holcim cement plant in Portland, CO that is located about 50 miles away from the Geocycle Colorado Springs facility.

A dedicated Geocycle team of 13 drivers collects these tires from our customers and then delivers the processed tires to the plant, thus ensuring these tires do not end up in landfills. On average, the drivers travel (collectively) over 600,000 miles a year. The team’s focus has always been on safety and a significant milestone was achieved recently: 7 million miles traveled without an on-highway accident.

During this period of time (11 years), the team hauled over 29.5 million tires and delivered approximately 335,000 metric tons of processed tires to the cement plant. This is equivalent to 25,400 metric tons of CO2 savings or carbon sequestered by 31,120 acres of U.S. forests in one year. Congratulations Geocycle Colorado Springs Team on your achievement!
