About us
Geocycle Croatia is a company that deals with waste management in the Republic of Croatia.
Geocycle was created by the pioneering efforts of Holcim in the 1970s, and to this day we have developed innovative services for the management of industrial and municipal waste. In Croatia, through pretreatment and co-processing, we offer industrial and municipal waste management services, where we cooperate with more than 20 clients for whom we recycle more than 50,000 tons of waste annually.
Respecting the hierarchy of waste management, Geocycle dedicates itself to achieving the goal of "zero waste" while applying environmental protection standards and ISO certification standards (for environment, quality and safety at work).

Co-processing
Geocycle offers waste treatment solutions based on a unique industrial process called co-processing, which simultaneously ensures energy and material recovery in one industrial process: cement production. In this way, as a result, 100% of the waste that entered the process is recycled and disposed without residue, i.e. no new waste is created.

Advantages of Co-Processing
Ideally, we all want to reduce the amount of waste we create. But some forms of waste cannot be avoided or safely reused / recycled.
After reuse and recycling as the primary steps in the waste management hierarchy, co-processing in cement production is the most environmentally acceptable waste disposal method: it does not leave ashes, reduces dependence on fossil fuels, preserves natural resources and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
The advantages of co-processing are widely recognized (JRC Science for Policy Report, 2016), and have led to the publication of specific guidelines for co-processing under the United Nations “Basel Convention”
(www.basel.int).
Principles of using waste as alternative fuels and raw materials

- We act as a community partner, offering solutions for waste management: we work in accordance with all applicable regulations, basing our values on integrity.

- We reduce the CO2 footprint.
What we do:
- We ensure health and safety: health and safety at work are embedded in our culture, therefore we have set up an internal Holcim Group program for managing safety and risks when using alternative fuels and raw materials, called ACert, we continuously train our people and precisely control and monitor air emissions from the production process.
- We do not use prohibited waste: we respect the legal provisions and internal directives of the Holcim Group, we only recycle waste that meets the prescribed parameters, we precisely control and monitor the composition of the waste we receive. We test the chemical and physical properties of incoming shipments to ensure that the waste material can be safely recovered. Our laboratories are equipped with modern instruments for controlling all relevant parameters.
- We guarantee the quality of our products: Holcim primarily produces cement, concrete and aggregate. Therefore, the basis of our work is to provide quality construction products with a limited impact on the environment, e.g. we are one of the first companies in Croatia to be certified according to the ISO quality management standard.
